Fiona - ITEA 2

FIONA-Framework for Indoor and Outdoor Navigation Assistance, aims to develop a modular framework that supports accessible core functionality of location and indoor and outdoor navigation and to facilitate the development of applications and services based on that framework. 

To validate the architecture and to assimilate the requirements, there will be several prototypes aimed at indoor personal navigation via smartphones, and navigational assistance to visually impaired persons.


Led by Robert Bosch GmbH, has the presence of European companies leading in R & D + i in different countries: Germany, Czech Republic, Finland and Spain. FIONA, with a budget of 8.5 million euros was approved in 2012 ITEA2 call. The initiative aims to encourage and support R & D + i that contribute to excellence in research in the field of software systems and services in Europe.

This project has been funded by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Multi-regional Operational Programme Smart Growth.
